Learning

I have been learning photoshop and flash for the past few months and because I did touch on some photoshop and flash while in school because there are modules that uses this software but other than those modules, on my free time I also touch on this software by learning from online like some tutorials which helped me in improving. I also has been practicing in drawing so that I can draw better as I will need to design something later on.

Another Drawing

Today I have done another drawing to practice my drawing again. Today I try to practice drawing on things that is fantasy also. I think I should start on drawing something that is not so hard yet because my drawing skills is not that good yet. I think of drawing pokemon as it are the things that I can think of as I remember that when I was small I like it a lot. Pokemon is also related to my theme fantasy, so I actually draw a few pokemons and some of it does not come out as good as the picture looks.

Drawing

Today I try to draw a few things to practice my drawing. Today I actually try to draw some anime stuff that I found online. I am not really sure if it fits into my theme but I think that it is kind of related because things in anime are not real and it belong to fantasy. I actually draw some of the character in different anime and I think that it does not look that bad and can be part of the sketches. I think I will continue to draw more things that is related to fantasy.

Typefaces

Today on my expression of form lesson, it touches on typefaces which is also called fonts. It actually make me realise that certain type of typefaces or fonts can give off a certain kind of feeling and to emphasis on something. It also matter when you will to bold or not bold your letters or to italic it or not. It make me realize that typefaces is actually quite important in delivering message. So I actually go and find more about typefaces or fonts and when are certain type of typefaces best use so that next time I can use for my portfolio website.

Research Part 3

Continuing from the research that I left off last time, today I started on researching a bit more about fantasy related stuff, I actually go and find out what kind of things there are that are actually counted to be fantasy. I find some really nice fantasy character design by others and also some nice creatures which I may use it for my sketching later on. I also try to look up on some fantasy theme websites as to see how they look like and was impress with some of the website as it was very nice.

Tutorial

Today I actually go and explore a bit on Photoshop as I think that I would need to use it quite often in the future so I think that might as well I go and explore about the different functions in Photoshop so that next time when I design stuff or want to create logo or other thing, I will know how to use it. I found a tutorial on how to use Photoshop to create a picture that is given and there is step by step as to how to do it, so I follow it and do. After doing it I actually found some really useful functions in Photoshop that I can use in the future.

Research Part 2

Today I went to research on designs that is done by other people to have a idea of how does it look like and how it is being done. I go and look up for fantasy related graphic design like logo or web design and after looking at some of it actually give me the idea of how it is like. I also look up for some videos or animation that is related to my theme "fantasy" as videos and animation are some of the thing that maybe I will do and put it in my portfolio so I want to understand how people actually put fantasy into animation or video so that next time when I do it, I can do a better job.

Research Part 1

Today I did a research on what is a wireframe, moodboard and sitemap. These are few things that I got to do before I can go on to do my website because all these are like planning you will do for a site before you really go on to do the real site because it will actually help to define how your website will look like and navigate and also the kind of fonts you are using in the site and also the uses of color. Today I actually understand what are those things and actually look up for some example of those to get hold of the idea.

Proposal 3 : About the thing I am doing

Today I am deciding on the things I am going to do that will be display in my portfolio. The things that I am going to do is animation, videography, graphic design and illustration. This are few things that I think I will be doing and some of it can be further break down like animation we can have 2D animation and 3D animation. I choose animation because in this semester we are learning about 2D and next semester we will maybe learning about 3D so I can actually use what I learn and put to use. I choose to do graphic design because I found some of the graphic design quite interesting like logo or typography so I like to actually to do it. For videography is because I am really quite interested in it and I will try to do it if it is possible. These are almost all the things that I decide to do after some serious thinking.

Proposal 2 : About the type of site to use to display content

Today I was going to decide I am using flash site to display my contents because from what I see from online, there are quite a number of people that actually uses flash site to display the things that design or they create. I personally also think that using a flash site can deliver what you want to say about yourself better as you can design the page to suit the theme you are using or about yourself. Partly because for this semester I am learning about flash so I felt that it will be better and HTML the way you can design it is quite limited and it cannot be so dynamic like flash site can.

Proposal

After deciding on the theme that I going to use for my portfolio, now I can decide on what I am able to do for the portfolio. I was thinking what kind of thing I can put inside my portfolio, so from previous I actually browse various different portfolio and I saw different things in each portfolio. From this I actually have some idea of what to put and also the things that I am interested in. I also thinking of choosing to display the content in a flash site or HTML site. After looking I think I will do some design stuff related and videography as in the course I will learn some of the things about these stuffs.

About what to do 2

Continuing from last time where I have a list of themes that I am going to choose and after researching a bit on each theme, I think I am going to choose the theme "fantasy" as after researching and a few days of thinking I think I am able to do better if the theme is "fantasy" because there are quite a lot of things that I like belong to fantasy so with things I like and I understand better I think I can do better with it.

About what to do

Today I am thinking about what I am going to do in my portfolio so I went to search online for some other people portfolio so that I can get some idea on what kind of theme I am going to use for my portfolio. There are a lot of kind of themes that can be use so I just go online and search for some themes that I actually will like to do like fantasy, anime and sci fi. After searching online, I saw a lot different of portfolio by other people and somehow got the idea of how it is and is thinking which theme to choose to build on and is more suitable for me.
